Bri & Leigh
With the New England wedding season in full swing, I had the opportunity to visit a Massachusetts wedding venue I had not been to before: the Essex Room in Essex, MA. Not only was the staff there amazing, but the venue was as well. It featured a nice white ceiling for bouncing some flash off of. They have a great ceremony site right out front of the Essex Room, with a stunning vista out back for creating a few hero shots. We used the pretty garden space to take some family photos after the couple was married and to make some bridal photos—because, well, it’s a garden.
Bri and Leigh found me online, like most of the couples I’ve worked with. After a few emails, we hopped on a short phone call, and they were happy to book me for their wedding. We had never met in person but spoke again two weeks prior to the wedding. Once we met, I knew it would be a great day with two beautiful brides. The ceremony was officiated by a close friend, and I’d have to say he was one of the best officiants I’ve seen to date. With a few short jokes and a story or two, he led them to the kiss. He then sent the couple off with the announcement of the newly joined pair. As the wedding guests headed to the cocktail hour, I made quick work of the family photos and sent the family off to enjoy the party.
This is when I do everything I can to make magic—to create the "hero" images that they will, I hope, cherish for years to come.
