From our first meeting to their wedding day hug, I knew working with Vivi and Rob would be fun and relaxed. They chose Camp Cody in Freedom, N.H., a lakeside venue with on-site accommodations for guests. The sun was hot, but the lake kept the air light. The camp offered ample space a first look anyway. A first look is a private pre-ceremony moment where the bride and groom share a special connection. As a photographer, I always ask couples about their plans and explain why I love first looks, but I never push if they decline. Some brides are unfamiliar with the concept, and grooms often resist extra photos, but after a chat, most agree. At Camp Cody, we found a quiet, wooded spot for Vivi and Rob’s first look. I told Rob not to turn until Vivi was ready. As she approached, I captured the buildup—her soft words, his nervous laugh.
