When I photographed a wedding at the Winthrop Carter House in Boscawen, NH, I knew almost immediately that this was going to be a fun group of people.

Everyone seemed to be there for the same simple reason—to spend time with the people they loved and celebrate two families from different parts of the world coming together.

The historic barn and lush green lawns at the Winthrop Carter House created the perfect setting for a wedding that felt both rustic and elegant. The bride looked incredible in her gown, while the groom brought a little British charm to the celebration.

The ceremony took place during golden hour, with beautiful warm light filling the grounds and creating the perfect backdrop for the beginning of their new chapter together.

After the ceremony, we headed into the surrounding wooded areas and fields for portraits. One of the things I love about photographing weddings at the Winthrop Carter House is the variety of scenery available right around the property. There are plenty of opportunities to move away from the crowd and create relaxed, natural portraits without taking the couple away from their guests for too long.

As evening arrived, we headed back inside the barn. The warm orange light created an entirely different atmosphere as everyone continued celebrating.

But we weren't finished yet.

Once the sun had completely disappeared, the couple and I headed back outside for some nighttime wedding photography. The darker surroundings gave us a chance to create something completely different from the photographs earlier in the day—dramatic, atmospheric portraits that helped finish the story.

That's one of my favorite parts of wedding photography. A wedding day can change dramatically from afternoon to evening, and I love photographing all of those different moments and moods as they naturally happen.
