Jackson New Hampshire Wedding Photography Slide Show | Joe Martin Photography

New Hampshire Wedding Photographers Blog: 213

If you have just stopped on my site for the first time, welcome! My name is, Joe. I am a New Hampshire wedding photographer. After I shoot a wedding and edit the photos, I build the slide show. Here is a slide show from a wedding I photographed in, Jackson, N.H. this past summer. I use the site Animoto and the music is always fully licensed.  Animoto has amazing slide show building software. The themes are always updating and they even have wedding themes that help create an emotional display. What do you think after viewing this wedding slide show?  Please enjoy the slide show and feel free to share it with friends or family planning a wedding. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my work!

In the small town of Jackson, N.H., is a resort named, The Wentworth. It is a well known Inn in the area and is snug right in the middle of town. The Wentworth is a popular wedding venue in the Mount Washington Valley. The ceremony that I attended there was in a small field next to the venue. The Wentworth gazebo is set at the base of Jackson Falls, a popular tourist destination, and is a beautiful settling for a wedding. The guests were arriving and made their way to the site. The couple was dressed and ready to, say, “I do,” and begin their celebration of their new life together. The parents, grandparents and other family members stayed at the site, after the wedding, for some photos. Then, the bridal party jumped in to a limousine so we could drive around and work on some photos at a few special places that they had in mind.

We first went to the famous, Jackson Covered Bridge. It is an old, wooden bridge that was build in 1876. It is also known as Honeymoon Bridge or Covered Bridge No. 51. On the way back to the hotel,we stopped at the in town pond to capture the couple in a reflection. As they came out of the bus, Mark, the groom, headed right over a couple that was already there that were fishing. He talked to them for a bit and then I saw them handing over their fishing gear to the bride and groom! I was surprised and impressed that he was so bold as to ask to borrow their gear for some photos. I love working with such confidence and creative couples. I was able to take a few shots of them fishing. the groom even hooked one! We stopped at the stone bridge and the Jackson Library for a few emotive photographs before heading to the reception. They danced, cut their cake and rocked out to the live band, Gazpacho. (They were a fabulous wedding band, and highly I recommend them.)

It was a beautiful day and a day full of laughter and love. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day. Thanks Jen & Mark for the great day! It was an honor to work with you to capture the joy and beauty of your day!

Wedding In Poland, Maine | Wolf Cove Inn Wedding Venue | New Hampshire Wedding Photographers Blog

Wedding In Poland, Maine | Wolf Cove Inn Wedding Venue | New Hampshire Wedding Photographers Blog

New Hampshire Wedding Photographers Blog: 198

It was a beautiful warm day in Poland, Maine. (Yes! There is a Poland, Maine!) The couple was like most others. Young, in love and surrounded by family and friends. There was one thing about this couple that was different then most others. they had traveled over a thousand miles to say “I do.”. The couple had flown to Maine to have their wedding at this great Bed & Breakfast The Wolf Cove Inn.

Like most days, I packed up my gear and headed off early in the day. I had said goodbye to my loving family and traveled into Maine to meet another. Being that the couple was from Texas, they had a small, select group of family and friends with them on this special day. We were able to do a “first look” shoot. just before the wedding. I love doing these, as it makes the wedding time more relaxed by getting the nervousness of them seeing each other for the first time, out of the way. Part of my wedding photography style is creating photos that tell a story from the day, at the same time, creating a mood of being together – yet being separate people. I love to honor the wholeness of the union, as well as the wholeness of the individual. It makes my work stand out and takes partnership and equality to the next level, in comparison to a more “traditional” style wedding photography, which often times carries an energy of the woman being subservient, or frail. I love two show the bride and groom as equally powerful and ready to step into this new chapter in their lives.

Before a first look I try to create at lest one photo that is moody or something not tipical of most wedding photography. This time it was the boat house photo. The photo was taken just before the “first look” photos were taken. The couple could not see each other. I wanted to capture the energy of loving anticipation between them. I first had the groom take his place in the boat house. I then walked the bride out and down the stairs. I reminded him not to look over in her direction. He had a wall to his right so she was out of view. They could hear each other and talked a bit. I had to walk out on to the small boat dock to take the photo and capture this moment.

Most people do not realize the thought and creativity involved in the work of a professional wedding photographer. Vision, timing, confidence, great effort and extreme focus to detail is paramount. I intentionally capture the uniqueness of the each couple and instead of taking the “cookie-cutter” wedding photos, I promise the couple a uniqueness that will make their photos stand out and carry incredible emotion.

I love what I do and the couples that I work with are all special and I never forget the moment of fulfillment, when a photo like this, goes from conception of an idea to… art. I am grateful to the couples who are willing to trust me and work on a combined vision. It is always an honor and this Maine wedding was no exception.

New Hampshire Wedding Photographers Blog: 211

One of the best parts about being a Wedding Photographer. I love building wedding day slide shows! It takes me back to the energy of each, individual wedding and it is so nice to live it all again. This is my goal when creating a slide show for the couples I work with. It isn’t just about the photos themselves. It is about the feeling, the energy, the uniqueness of each, individual couple and celebration. When you get marred in New Hampshire you have many options for a gorgeous background. This time I traveled to Lincoln, N.H. To Indian Head Resort. I have photographed here before at another wedding. We were able to create some great portraits after the wedding ceremony and then again near sunset we stepped out to the pond for a few more photos. One nice thing about the resort is that the venue is close to the beautiful scenes we used for backdrops. We did not need to jump in a car and drive 10 miles to find the mountains or a lake. They have it all right there. Mary, Justin and I had a great day at there wedding. Like the engagement session we had. It was like 3 friends taking photos. Glad to be there this day. Please enjoy this wedding slide show of some of my favorite story telling images from that day.

Intimate Family Wedding At Christmas Farm Inn & Spa, Jackson NH | New Hampshire Wedding Photographer

Intimate Family Wedding At Christmas Farm Inn & Spa, Jackson NH | New Hampshire Wedding Photographer

New Hampshire Wedding Photographer Blog: 190

This summer I witnessed many different styles of weddings. One common thread that was present at each wedding was love from family and friends. I photographed a small intimate wedding at the Christmas Farm Inn & Spa, in Jackson NH. There was a total of 13 people at the ceremony included the bride and groom. It did not matter the number of people because the amount of love was at maximum capacity. When i first met Melissa, I saw right away she was an easy going and fun bride. What made it even better was that her soon-to-be- husband was all about what ever she wanted to do for photos. Before the wedding started, we did a “first look.” That is a time for the groom to see his bride for the first time that day or the first time in her dress. Before the first look, we had them together using a small old barn as a space to be together, yet not see each other yet. Then we picked a nice spot on the lawn near some trees and a small arbor. Once the couple had joined they chatted for a bit and took some candid photos. Then, we made some bride portraits. I love to use the doors or large buildings, as a way to take advantage of negative space. I feel, at times, these moody photos add a feeling of togetherness even know the couple is posed away from each other. Once the “I Do’s” were said, we headed down the street to Jackson Falls for some photos. After we came back to the venue at the Christmas Farm Inn for dinner. Dinner was so good and a nice dinning atmosphere, but before dinner we did a few shots at the inn itself. Here are some of my favorite picks!. Please comment below if you enjoy the photos. What one is your favorite? Also I would love to ask a favor of you. With all the ways people can help each other you could truly help me is by letting any one you know that is getting married of my work. Maybe you are getting married soon and are looking for photographers? I love to work is couples plaining their wedding and making all the couples wishes come true.

Rainy Day Wedding At The Zorvino Winery Venue | Southern New Hampshire Wedding Photography

Rainy Day Wedding At The Zorvino Winery Venue | Southern New Hampshire Wedding Photography

With all the planning that goes into a wedding, the one thing you can never fully plan for is weather. The couple picks the wedding venue months, even years, ahead. As the date gets closer and you see the weather is looking to be bad. Bad meaning rain. There is only so much you can do about it. Well the Zorvino Winery wedding venue in Sandown, NH., did all they could to try and save this day. They even sent a crew out to try and dry the chairs the guests would be using. It was just too wet. Off and on again rain moved this wedding to inside the venue. At Zorvino it did not matter. As beautiful as the grounds are, the interior of the winery is just as nice.  Once the wedding ceremony had finished and the couple was officially married, we did dodge some rain drops and heading outside to get some bridal portraits. With the weather the way it was and time moving closer to the introduction of the couple and the start of the reception, we moved fast and were able to create a great amount of imagery. Here are just a few of my picks to share for today. One of the couples daughter and one of the boys in the wedding party wanted to do a jump shot. I think they nailed it! Happy wedding day and cheers to many happy years together, Stacey & Mike.

I love when I am able to return to a wedding venue I have already worked at. Knowing the ins and outs of the location is a bonus, for sure. I was lucky to return to a location that I love, The Indian Head Resort, in beautiful Lincoln, NH.. The venue holds up to 150 people and hosts weddings during all four seasons of New England’s changing weather. This wedding was with a great couple whom I connected with and had a great time with. We had their engagement shoot this summer and we really hit it off. With the chemistry and positive attitude of this couple, we had a great day and their wedding and the photos that captured it exceeded expectations. It was a hot, humid summer day, but it cooled off in the evening, just in time for some dancing. I love my work and I truly enjoyed spending time with this couple and their loving family. Here is a few of my favorite photos from the bridal session. Congratulations Justin & Mary! May you multiply and never divide!

If you follow my blog, then you know I like to build a slide show after the weddings that I shoot. I love to tell a story of my favorite photos from the special day. Here is a slide show from a wedding that I shot at The Red Barn at Outlook Farm, which is another beautiful Maine wedding venue. It is located in the town of South Berwick, Maine.  On the wedding day, the bride had been stuck in traffic on her way to the wedding and we ended up being a little behind for the start of the reception, so our time for bridal photos was a bit shorter then I would have liked. It was really just all in my head. We got every shot they wanted and still made time to create a few extras of just the bride and groom. So, please enjoy this slide show form Christina & Doug’s May 1st Wedding.

Daytona Beach Landscape | Limited Addition Fine Art Photography

Daytona Beach Landscape | Limited Addition Fine Art Photography

PHOTO OF THE DAY- Daytona Beach Landscape

For a few years our family has made the trip to Florida making the trip via car and RV. We head to Walt Disney World for a few of the days. The Kids love the rides and I have learned to love them too. I think The Aerosmith ride, The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. It very fast roller coaster with a few loops and high speed. The music is blasting as you make your way to a concerts staring Aerosmith. On the trip I take many photos of the parks and the landscape of Florida. We have also made a tradition of stopping at Daytona Beach on the why home. It is a great way to close out our time in Florida and a great start to a long drive back north. Ever time we have gone over to Daytona the weather has been great. Like most trips to the beach it is breezy and wet. The kids always say they are not go into get wet, yet they end up running in the water and then we need to find a place to change before the next leg of the trip. This day was no different.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO

This was taken with a 15-50 mm lens on its widest setting, trying to capture as much of the beach as I could. I think it looks great in Black & White. The seagulls and the pilers make this photo what it is. They are the a main subject and really let you know your at the ocean.  The one solo flying gull adds to the drama of the clouds and ties it all together. Prints are available for purchase in many sizes from 8×12 prints up to 36X48 canvas prints. I am offering this fine art print in a limited addition canvas print. There will be only 25 canvas printed they are 20″x 30″ and will be hand signed but me. The price is $250+$10 shipping. Contact me today to take advantage of this limited addition sale.

PHOTOS FROM THE RUNWAY

PHOTOS FROM THE RUNWAY

PHOTO OF THE DAY: PHOTOS FROM THE RUNWAY

Again we as a family were on a plane traveling once again back home from a trip. This time we were in Dallas, TX after a 5 day trip to a home schooling conference that my wife was speaking at. I was in the middle seat talking to the kids about the trip we just took and the trip we are about to take home. I know that some of the kids are fine to fly and a couple of them do not like it so much. As we sit and wait for the plane in front of us to take flight I am looking for a spot to take a cool photo. The plane turns just slightly and in doing so gives me a great view of the city. I snap a few and wait then a few more.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO: I selected this photo from the group of shots I had for the one thing they others did not have. That other plane in it. I had not noticed until after I imported the photos on to my computer. This was the only photo that had a plane in it. I think it completes the story of our location. I mean you can tell it is an airport runway as it. With the plane it just says group level. I gave this photo that texture to add a kind of vintage look and feel to the photograph. I think it gives it a mood a time stamp. to me it looks to be a photo from maybe the 1970’s shot on film. I was happy with how it turned out. How do you feel when you look at it. Does it scream vintage to you also?

I am in the processes of adding my portfolio to my on line print shop. The site is hosted on another site called Smugmug. They offer many styles of prints from 8″x10″ photo paper up to 24″x36″ canvas wraps. I have a print on canvas option also that can print any whole image on the front face of a canvas wrap and print the wrapped edge black. This way you are getting the whole image in the face of the print and not losing any on the wrapped edges.

If you click this image you will be taken to my print shop and may view other images there. I have only a small percent of my work there now.

Mom You Look Nice | Getting Ready Photo form A New Hampshire Wedding

Mom You Look Nice | Getting Ready Photo form A New Hampshire Wedding

PHOTO(s) OF THE DAY: Mom You Look Nice- A Short Series

Love this wedding photo form a 2014 wedding. The wedding was at the Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway, NH. The couple had a room at a hotel next to the train station. That is the spot we took some getting ready photos. Mom was having her hair done. Her little girls was just hanging out watching the process. As mom was fishings up they started to chat a bit. that is when the magic happened. Love the candid wedding photos like this one. This is not my child but I wish I had photos of my kids and myself that had this connection and feel to them.  At every wedding I have been too with little ones. This little one was my little buddy. She was intrigued in why I was there. I told her I was there to take photos of the wedding. She was very fun to witness at the wedding. She even joined her mom during the exchanging of the vows all the way to the kiss.

ABOUT THESE PHOTOS: I was in close shooting with my 17-50 mm lens. My settings were 50mm @f2.8 with 1/50 shutter speed. I took the other tow photos below a the same settings. Mom was just talking with her daughter and the little girl was very intrigued by all that was happening. I thought these photos looked nice in this vintage style. Again edited in Adobe Lightroom. The couple loved the photos as did I.

ONE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS ANSWER TO GUESTS WITH CAMERAS

PHOTO OF THE DAY: DON’T FIGHT THEM INCLUDE THEM

As a wedding photographer we have a lot on our plate the day of a wedding. We are talking about so many things I am not sure I could list them all. I think you can imagine some of the obvious things. Weather, lighting, gear issues, timing of photos taking, finding the location’s. There is a short list of some of the things we have to worry about the day of any wedding. Some of the not so obvious issue are things like people. That list is long. We have fun happy people, easy going in no rush people and the ever almost in the way armature photography people. That is what this photo and blog is about today.

Now I have been involved in many on-line discussion on this topic. There is many thoughts on the topic. There are many photographers that are feed up and at a breaking point with the guest photo snappers. It is going to happen so stop fighting it and include them. When I shoot a wedding or any event without saying a word to anyone I take control. By take control I mean I own that day. I am not rude and most times a word is never spoken about this. Maybe it is easy for me. I am out going I am a bit loud. I am tall, I am everywhere. I am without a doubt the photographer for the day. If i have to I might step in front of the aunt or uncle to get that shot, but one second later I am out of your way letting you get that same photo. It is part of the days flow. These family members and close friends want some photos on their phone and camera too. Who am I to make it harder for them to create memories of this day? I am the hired help. With a big emphasis on help. I will not be moving tables at the reception or changing light bulbs at a venue. I am there for the couple and I am there for their family. When at all possible I take photos of the other guest that are taking photos. It is one way I think i make it known I am there for them, for them all.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO: Here is a photo of a guest taking a photo of the bride and groom at the ceremony. I had not even noticed that other guest also shooting a photo. I was standing about half way down the aisle taking photos of the couple. I always am looking around to grab photos of the guest. I mean the couple wants photos of the guest. Some came from far away. Some may not be seen by the couple for many years to come, if at all. So capture these moments when you can. Don’t miss the kiss, but take photos of the others throughout the day. Have fun with the other guests. You will never see them again either.

Even know we have it covered. Many wedding guests want photos too. We all love that gratitude of the capture.

I added this second photo as I wanted to show just one more photo that I thought really showed what some photographers deal with at a wedding. Now I had already taken a few photos of the bride and groom at the table and the toast. I just love this image of 2 of the groomsmen taking photos with their phone.

EARTH VIEW

EARTH VIEW

PHOTO OF THE DAY: EARTH VIEW

If you have been following me for a bit then you know I loved Puerto Rico and my camera did too. This is one of the first shots from Puerto Rico even know we had not even landed yet. The angle on this photo is so cool as it shows the depth of the city, almost like the Earth View on Google maps. You can see them in a 3D like style. It is like a tiny Lego city with the light hitting it all just right. This is was the light can do to a photo. With it being side lite like it is. It shows the depth. If the sun had been more over head and beaming straight down onto the city this would look flat non life like. It would give a totally deferent feel and mood then what we have now.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO: As we came in for our landing I pulled my camera out and started to look for something to shoot. We were still over water so I had to wait for a bit and then there is was Puerto Rico. I was surprised to see the city right up to the coast. Being a new traveler to Puerto Rico I was thinking the costs would be all beach and jungle. Proves we should not always assume what we think about a place is true, but that we should investigate it to know as much as we can about a person, place or thing. I edited this photo in Lightrooom as I always do. I never us Photoshop. I truly do like to use it. I like a quick edit of my work and lightroom does that for me.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: ONE WAY TO TYLER STREET, BOSTON MA

Walking around the city is like well walking around a city so much to see so much to take in. Lights, sounds, smells and beauty. In some place there is beauty all around, but we are to busy to blinded by the hustle and bustle of all that city. Tall buildings helicopters. One way to truly embrace and enjoy the city for me anyway. Is to look for that small part of a scene that is worth saving is worth capturing and invoking thought. I do this with my camera. I use the lens and its narrow view to focus in on an area and close out the noise. I do this so well at times I might be walking in to traffic and not even realize it. It could be a bad thing.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO: Walking around “China Town” in Boston , Ma with my son one day. We had parked the car and walked and walked. I think we walked every street back and forth in China Town. We had some food at a small local spot. We visited a few of the shops. This photo I thought was very busy. The windows in the background reflecting the other buildings. The signs shouting orders and giving directions. The side of the streets were full of parked cars. People were moving about in and out of buildings, cars and walk ways. I had my photo and we moved on. I only wish I knew what the little flag says. It is a poster or advert for the the China Town Tourism fund. The next time you are in a city stop and look up. You just might find something you never saw before.

FROSTED OVER TOWN

FROSTED OVER TOWN

PHOTO OF THE DAY- FROSTED OVER TOWN

We have long winters here in New Hampshire. I joke that we have 5 seasons. Spring, summer, fall, winter and wedding session. Not necessarily in that order. When wedding season does start it goes fast unlike some of the last few winters we have had. Again my camera is almost always with me in the car. I happen to drive around the park in down town North Conway and the scene was just asking to be photographed. I jumped out and took about five photos. This being the one I picked to edit and post. We can see a large part of our old fashion ski town.

Sure we have a Starbucks a 99 restaurant and Walmart. They are down at the other end of town in the area of town that contains most of the change type of stores and outlets. This is the older side of town the part that still holds on to some of the original buildings that were part of the foundation of Mount Washington Valley. It is great to park on the street near here and walk in and out of these store fronts. Each store is unique in its own way. From our famous rock and gem shop “Dondero’s Rock Shop” and our local small town coffee shop “The Met” then a bit further down we have Horsefeathers restaurant and right next door in “Zeb’s County Store”. On a small side note. I had worked at Horesfeathers for 16 years before children and have gone back to work there over time the past few years after taken 8 years old to grow my wooden toys business Willow Toys . Zeb’s is the yellow building pictured here just left of the church and Horesfeathers is the lite blue building two buildings over to the left of Zeb’s. If you ever find your self up this way both locations are a must visit type of place. Finally we can see “Cranmore Mountain” our local in town ski resort.

Thanks for viewing my site. Have you ever been to North Conway? Let me know in the comments below.

Location, location ,location. Like most things in life it is truly about the location. This is true for most business where we live and where we travel too. Lets face it if we live in a place that is not a good fit for our life style then the location is all wrong. Same goes for a business owner. If you own a gas station 100 miles down a old dirt road you wont sell much fuel. As a photographer we are always looking for a shooting location. This place was perfect for some fantasy like photos for me to create. This is one of many of the portraits taken this day. The wild backdrop of the dieing trees. The masked mystery of this beautiful model. The model in this case happed to be my wife.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO: I wanted to create some magical looks in this photo shoot. It was not hard with all that was going for me with this set of photos. We had a great scene, great custom and great subject. I took a number of photos in this one set up then we changed it up a bit and took some wider shots with most landscape and the full body shot of the model. In this shot I desaturated it a bit leaving just a bit of color in the red dress and in her brown eyes. The mask has colored beads all over it so I really took the color fro that again to bring focus to her eyes. I like how it turned out. No I love how this photo turned out. We had a fun time working together as we always do.

The Long Ride Down Form A Mountain Top Wedding

The Long Ride Down Form A Mountain Top Wedding

PHOTO OF THE DAY- THE LONG RIDE DOWN FROM A MOUNTAIN TOP WEDDING

When you have a passion in life why not include it in the best day of your life? That is what this wedding couple did on their big day. They both have a love for skiing. What better way to encompass that then to get married at the top of their favorite ski resort. Jays Peck. The wedding party, DJ and both photographers made the trip up via the chair lift. I was lucky enough to be the last one down sitting behind the bride and groom to capture some memorable photographs of the trip to the base lodge. It was a great ceremony with time after to shoot some photos at the top. The day ended with a epic sunset and joyous party to celebrate the joining of this young couple. If you want to see other photos form this wedding day please follow this link to a gallery of photos.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO: I was the last one down. The staff was spacing out guests every over chair for safety. Being that the couple and I were the only ones left they left me ride in the chair behind them. If not behind them this shot is not a shot. I had them kiss in a shot and look back in a shot. I just love this shot the best out of the other versions on it.

THE FUNNY BRIDE

THE FUNNY BRIDE

PHOTO OF THE DAY- THE FUNNY BRIDE

It might sound cliché but it is true.  The wedding day is the happiest day in a young couples life. This day was not different I that way. This couple was truly in love he with her and her with him. They had it shining all around them. They both had large families with them on this day and their fun and happiness was contagious and spread over the room when ever they walked in. The bride was the youngest of thirteen children. This means she is the baby with many older siblings crying at every little hug and kiss that the couple made. It was for sure a memorable day for all. One part of the wedding that was most special in my eyes, was that the bride had all her sisters as her brides maids. They all had different color dress which added even more detail to this amazing day.

About this photo: This photo is of the bride and some of her best friends in her life. I believe some of her past school friends and some from work. They posed for a few photos near this great old barn. As I clicked away and they changed the poses they began to make little joke that made them all break out in laughter. Love it when I can capture some true moments in the day. I am always looking for a photo that will make a true memory. If this was my wedding photo I would love it more then the posed portraits. This photo speaks of good times at my wedding.

LITTLE HO– USE ON FROZEN WATER

LITTLE HO– USE ON FROZEN WATER

PHOTO OF THE DAY – LITTLE HO– USE ON FROZEN WATER

Driving last winter on a gray lite day. No sun many clouds. I had my camera ( I always do)  This day I was going to pick up a load of wood for my wooden toy business.  As I came around the corner I saw it there in the distance. It was a little house a ice house to be more descriptive. If you do not know what a ice house is it is not just a beer. It is a small shed really. It is used for ice fishing in the cold part of the world. You can build them to fit your needs. Some have little wood stove some have holes in the floor to fish through. Some are just a place to store your gear and take a break from the cold.  This one looks nice it has vinyl siding on it and a nice weather proof door and a few windows to let the light in.
I pulled into a small turn around spot on the side of the road and climbed a snow bank to get a better view. I was almost to the top and noticed I could shoot into this small area of tress that had lost its leaves in the fall. I thought this would add to the mood of the photo and I snapped away. After just a few shots I was happy and back on my trip to the lumber yard. You never know when that next shot will line up or what you might do to make the next photo. I always have my camera with me. I know we all have cell phones for the most part but I don’t think this would look so cool if I took it on my iPhone4s
